The Labour and Employment Department was created bifurcating from the Law and judicial department in year April 1982. The Labour and Employment Department is headed by Labour Commissioner. Its main objective and duties include maintaining harmonious industrial relations through enforcement of Labour laws and implementation of various Labour Welfare Schemes, and providing employment services through Employment Exchanges.
