Online Registration of Births & Deaths, Meghalaya
Registration of births, deaths and still births is compulsory under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 and rules framed thereunder. The information regarding all births, deaths and still births occurring within the jurisdiction of each Registration Units has to be given in the prescribed form to the birth and death department within 21 days from the date of a birth or still birth; and Prescribed forms for the purpose are available with the health officer of the birth and death department free of cost. The responsibility of getting all the births and deaths occurring in the hospitals/nursing homes/maternity homes etc, registered lies with the heads of the Registrations Units called the Registrar. The portal of Online Registration of Births & Deaths was rolled out in the year 2019. About 5 Registration Units has so far onboard in this online Portal.
